ABSTRACT:
The Stellar Network offers an infrastructure that marries permissionless membership with traditional quorum systems. This is achieved by the innovative introduction of local trusted sets, called slices, whose various combinations across the network create implicit quorums.
In this talk I will present a new view on the principles underlying the infrastructure of the Stellar Network, including a new, tighter bound on the size of the subsets of the system that can enjoy consensus, and I will discuss how traditional quorum-based consensus algorithms can be adapted to run on top of the Stellar Network infrastructure.
