סמינר באסטרונומיה ובאסטרופיזיקה: Type Ia Supernova Progenitors

Abstract:

In my talk I will provide an overview on the search for the progenitors of Type Ia Supernovae. I will go through the main methods and techniques deployed so far, illustrating pros and cons for each of them. I will then draw the status of affairs of this quest which, despite of great efforts and quite some progress, still remains undecided.
