קולוקוויום בביה"ס למדעי המחשב - Uncovering molecular determinants of clinical outcomes in Crohn’s disease and lung cancer by single-cell analysis
Dr. Effi Kenigsberg from Mount Sinai Hospital
:Abstract
In recent years, immunology and functional genomic studies have reshaped our understanding of inflammatory processes occurring in human diseases. Despite this progress, research-based biological insights are still insufficiently transformed into strong clinical success, likely due to the poor connection between clinical and molecular data. The emerging Single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) methods have significantly improved our ability to profile the cellular diversity in human tissues, however integrative analysis of human scRNA-seq samples is still challenging. I will present my studies on Crohn’s disease and lung cancer where I applied scRNA-seq data profiling on human lesions and identified inflammatory cell signatures that are abundant in subgroups of patients. Analyses of external datasets validated the signatures and showed their association with clinically relevant parameters. I will outline my plan for studying the links between shared or disease-specific inflammatory processes and clinical outcome of patients affected by Immune-Mediated Inflammatory Diseases.
